Commonly called the Cocoon
Nebula, IC 5146 lies in a rich star field in Cygnus. The dark nebula to its right is B168.
Equipment: Vixen
102-ED/ST-10XME/Astrodon RGB filters/Losmandy G-11/Gemini
F-ratio: f/6.5

minutes: B 8 x 4 minutes: RGB binned 2x2
Date: September 3, 2005
Location: Landers, California, USA
Technical Notes: Individual exposures were obtained using CCDAutoPilot2 and then sigma combined. The RGB image was created in
Registar 1.0. The brighter portions of the luminance image were sharpened with Unsharp
Mask at 100% with a radius of 1 pixel and a threshold of 0, while Gaussian Blur of 1.0
pixel was applied to the dimmer portions. The same Gaussian Blur was applied to the RGB
image.
